Dates You’ll Want to Celebrate!
|
 |
 |
|
(Or at least we think you should!)
We’ll be celebrating these dates and have special packages to send you for the dates in bold and underlined if you want them. These dates are ours - Springboard Training’s.
You can check them out to verify that they’re real “holidays” in Chase’s Calendar of Events in your public library or online.

National Time Management Month This is the month when the noble plans made in January begin to go awry. This month is dedicated to renewing those best laid plans, breaking open those new calendars that have yet to be opened, and reevaluating and re-prioritizing harried, out-of-balance lives – making specific commitments to balance them.
One of the stress factors people face in this day and age is time – poor use and management of time rather than time itself. It seems that there is more to do in one day than there is time in which to do it all. Actually, there is plenty of time! There are 24 hours in a day, every day (plus-or-minus the infinite second here and there that causes us to honor that confounding leap year every four years). It is how we choose to use the 24 hours that is our challenge.
People from all walks of life in all manner of professions and trades face demands that pull and tug at the time that is available. Industries and fortunes have been built around helping people and organizations with time management issues. Challenge yourself and your organization to finally get a handle on using time effectively. Create a work-life balance that reduces stress and meets the personal and professional needs of you and your people.
“Time is a fixed income and, as with any income, the real problem facing most of us is how to live successfully within our daily allotment.” - Margaret B. Johnstone

Youth Leadership Month This month is dedicated to celebrating young people who take on leadership roles in their lives. It is also dedicated to encouraging those who have not yet done so to consider doing so because they can. Programs that focus on youth leadership opportunities and effective leadership skill building are appropriate for this month.

International Ideas Month Everybody has ideas! Many people need to be encouraged, motivated, or to build skills in order to communicate and get their ideas out in the open for consideration and/or action. This month is dedicated to all ideas – large, small, great, not-so-great, past, current and ideas yet to come. Without constant new ideas, progress and people stagnate.

Motorcycle Safety Month This month is dedicated to encouraging safe motorcycle riding practices. Learn safe riding practices through state and local motorcycle safety courses and continue improving skills through advanced riding courses. Dress appropriately for the most protection. Maintain safe mental, physical and emotional conditioning. Drive defensively. Prepare co-riders to assist with safe riding practices. Service your vehicles thoroughly to ensure safe, reliable operation. And teach “cagers” to watch out for motorcyclists. Set a safe environment this month to prepare for a safe riding season.

Effective Communications Month The most important cog in the wheel of interpersonal relationships is communication. Active listening, verbal, paralanguage, body language, and written communication skills are the essence of how humans relate to each other personally and professionally. This month is dedicated to learning how to, improving upon, and committing to communicating more effectively in our lives.

Black Business Month Six months after Black History Month the focus on and awareness of Black-owned and operated enterprises needs a boost. This month is dedicated to starting, maintaining, growing, buying from, and committing to Black-owned businesses and entrepreneurs.

Self-Improvement Month Learning is a lifelong endeavor. Andragogy is a theory developed by Malcolm Knowles that hypothesizes that adults are self-directed and take control of their own learning. When we seek avenues for self-development we continue to grow personally and remain relevant professionally. This month is dedicated to seeking and taking the steps necessary to develop our knowledge, skills, and attitudes personally and professionally.

|
Positive Attitude Month Sometimes it just comes down to attitude! Zig Ziglar says that attitude, more than aptitude, affects altitude. Keith Harrell says attitude is everything. I say atta-tude is a self-reflection of who you think you are. This month is dedicated to establishing, boosting, or forcing ourselves to adopt positive attitudes and to discovering and/or creating positive self-images.

No Interruptions Day On this day there shall be no interruptions! At work we will minimize or eliminate interruptions to our thought processes or tasks we are performing. At home we will silence and shut down all devices that interrupt us so we can devote ourselves to our families or to our selves. This is a day for quiet and/or focus. It is a day to renew our energies to prepare ourselves for the new calendar year ahead.
